GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Men's Soccer had a highlight filled match against Defiance on Senior Night. The Golden Eagles got started quickly in this match after
Ajani Vaughn scored in the first six minutes of the match.
Tyler Corstange also found the back of the net three times which led Cornerstone to their well-deserved 7-1 victory. The Golden Eagles will be back in action at home against Siena Heights on Wednesday, October 23
rd at 7 p.m.
Game Recap: Cornerstone – 7 Defiance – 1
First Half:
- Cornerstone's Ajani Vaughn scored early in the match to give the Golden Eagles the 1-0 lead in the fifth minute of the match.
- The first yellow card of the match was given to the Yellow Jackets after a tough foul in the 23rd minute.
- Renan Ceccon doubled the Cornerstone lead in the 35th minute of the match after he curled a shot from outside the box into the top corner of the goal which gave the Golden Eagles the 2-0 lead.
- Tyler Corstange added his name to the scorer's sheet only a minute later in the match which extended the Cornerstone lead to 3-0 off a smooth pass from Calvin Curtis.
- Calvin Curtis connected with Tyler Corstange again in the first half which made the match 4-0 in favor of the Golden Eagles.
- Shane Renshaw snatched another goal for the Golden Eagles right before the break which gave Cornerstone the 5-0 lead at halftime.
Second Half:
- The second half started quickly for the Yellow Jackets as Jack Stanoikovich scored which made the match 5-1 in the 47th minute.
- Tyler Corstange secured his hattrick in the 68th minute with a goal that made the match 6-1.
- Seth Campbell headed the ball towards goal but bounced off the crossbar straight to Calvin Curtis who finished the goal in the 77th minute for the Golden Eagles.
- The Golden Eagles dominant win over the Yellow Jackets finished with a score of 7-1.
