Women's Volleyball honors their seniors with a 3-0 sweep of Rochester Christian

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Women's Volleyball celebrated their four seniors Kylie Barron, Aubrey Lenz, Jada Thomas, and Emma Whitley in a 3-0 sweep of Rochester Christian. One senior, Kylie Barron, recorded a huge milestone as she recorded her 1,000th career kill in a seven-kill performance as she continued to add to her incredible Golden Eagle career. Women's Volleyball secured the four seed in the WHAC Tournament and will host the Quarterfinal round on Wednesday, November 13 as they wait to see who they play.

Game Recap: Cornerstone – 3 Rochester Christian – 0 (25-14, 25-7, 25-9)
 
First Set: Cornerstone – 25 Rochester Christian - 14
  • The Golden Eagles jumped out to an early 3-1 thanks to a service ace from Aubrey Johnson and a kill from Gabby VerBerkmoes.
  • It continued be all Cornerstone early as a kill from Emmalee Murphy and Kylie Barron made it 7-2.
  • Back-to-back service aces from Olivia Endris and an attack error from Rochester forced them into a timeout as the Golden Eagles lead 11-4.
  • A 3-0 Rochester Christian run cut into the Golden Eagle lead 15-9 but Kylie Barron ended the run with a kill.
  • A block from Jada Thomas and Kylie Barron made it 20-12.
  • The Golden Eagles took advantage of a last point error from the Warriors to take the first set 25-14.
 
Second Set: Cornerstone – 25 Rochester - 7
  • The Golden Eagles jumped out to a 3-0 lead thanks to kills from Emmalee Murphy and Jada Thomas.
  • It continued to be all Cornerstone as Emmalee Murphy sends the over ball down for a kill to make it 8-2.
  • Rochester Christian was forced into a timeout as the Golden Eagles used a 4-0 run highlighted by kills from Aubrey Johnson and Gabby VerBerkmoes to make it 13-4.
  • The run continued for Cornerstone behind the serves of Payton Hutchinson as she made it 18-4.
  • The Golden Eagles continued to run away with the second set as back-to-back service aces from Aubrey Lenz made it 22-5.
  • Macy Ward put the final touches on the second set with a service ace and kill to give Cornerstone the 25-7 victory.
 
Third Set: Cornerstone – 25 Rochester - 9
  • The Golden Eagles jumped out to a 6-1 lead over Rochester thanks to a service ace from Olivia Endris and kills from Kylie Barron and Emmalee Murphy.
  • With her third kill of the set, Kylie Barron recorded her 1,000th career kill as the Golden Eagles continued to rally as it is 11-2.
  • The third set started to get away from the Warriors as Cornerstone leads 17-3 thanks to kills from Aubrey Johnson and Gabby VerBerkmoes.
  • Jada Thomas gets into the action with a kill as the Golden Eagles lead late 19-5.
  • Cornerstone pulls off the sweep of Rochester Christian as they win the third and final set 25-9.
