AUBURNDALE, Fla. – In a rematch against Mount Vernon, the Cougars got the best of the Golden Eagles winning 13-3. Mount Vernon scored early in this one, scoring four in the first and then using a big eight-run inning in the fifth, taking advantage of multiple Cornerstone errors.

Ben Cunningham went two-innings of scoreless ball to highlight the Golden Eagles. Cornerstone will be back in action against Grand View for double header on Thursday, February 29 starting at 12 p.m.
Game Highlights – Mount Vernon – 13 Cornerstone - 3
- The Golden Eagles were the first up to bat in this game as they stranded a runner on second in the top of the first. Ben Barnes took the mound for Cornerstone in the bottom half of the first as Mount Vernon scored first, hitting a two out, two run homerun to make it 2-0. After a couple more hits and a hit batter, Mount Vernon leads 4-0 after the first.
- Cornerstone had something going in the top of the third as they loaded the bases with nobody out. JC Salinas brought one home on a fielder's choice and Andrew Meny brought another one home on a double off the center field fence to make it a 4-2 game after the top of the third. Ben Barnes gets the strikeout, Andrew Meny gets the throw out for the perfect strikeout, throw-out double-play. The Cougars continue to lead 4-2 after the third inning.
- Mount Vernon tacked on a couple more runs, taking advantage of the Cornerstone errors as they now lead 7-2. After loading the bases, Mount Vernon brings home another two runs on a double to make it 9-2. A couple batters later and the Cougars have a very big inning, scoring eight as they lead 12-2 after the fifth inning.
- Ben Cunningham comes into the game to pitch the sixth and works a clean inning, inducing an inning ending double play.
- JC Salinas comes through with a two out RBI double to score a run to make it 12-3 in the top of the seventh. Ethan Lajiness ends the seventh inning with a diving catch to send the game into the eighth inning.
- Mount Vernon scores one in the eighth inning to beat Cornerstone 13-3.
