GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Men's Basketball returned home to the Mol Arena for the first time in 2025 and found their offensive stroke in a 96-71 victory over Concordia. It was raining threes for the Golden Eagles as they made 12 in the first half on their to 15 for the game, as seven of those came from the hand of
Kayden Bird.
Luke Rowlinson led the way for the Golden Eagles with a game high 22 as the Men's Basketball moves to 11-7 (7-3) on the year as they are set to host UNOH on Saturday, January 18 for their next conference matchup.
Game Recap – Cornerstone – 96 Concordia - 71
First Half: Cornerstone – 53 Concordia – 42
- The Golden Eagles opened the game on a nice 7-0 thanks to baskets from Blake Stewart and Luke Rowlinson.
- The Cardinals would respond with an 8-0 run of their own to take an 8-7 lead over the Golden Eagles through the first four minutes of the game.
- Right off the bench, Kayden Bird drills back-to-back threes to help capitalize an 8-0 run to give Cornerstone a 15-7 lead.
- The threes continued to fall for the Golden Eagles early as back-to-back from Andy Mora and Mason Brooks made it a 23-10 advantage.
- Luke Rowlinson and Jack Joldersma combine for the next nine Golden Eagle points as they lead 32-18 with seven minutes to go in the first half.
- Luke Rowlinson nails two threes, Kayden Bird nails two threes, and Mason Brooks adds another as five straight threes from the Golden Eagles sees them take a 47-27 advantage over Concordia.
- Concordia used the final two-minutes and 30 seconds of the half to go on a 15-3 run to make it a 53-42 game at halftime.
- Cornerstone has made 12 threes for the half at a 54.5% mark with Concordia right behind them with seven made threes at a 53.8% mark.
Second Half: Cornerstone – 96 Concordia – 71
- After a quick Concordia three to open the second half, the Golden Eagles responded with an 11-0 run to make it a 64-45 game.
- Right off the bench again, Kayden Bird comes in and drills two more threes as the Golden Eagles lead by 21, 74-53.
- Cornerstone continued to feel their offensive rhythm as a layup from Levi Schultz capped a 5-0 run as the Golden Eagles lead 83-57.
- Sam Koetsier's nice handles leads to an easy layup as Cornerstone is two minutes away from a win over Concordia. They lead 91-68.
- Tre Seydel and Joel Nichols found easy baskets of their own as the Golden Eagles go on to win big over Concordia 96-71.
