SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Men's Basketball looked to right the ship with a matchup against the second-best team in the WHAC Lawrence Tech but suffered a heart breaking 69-66 loss. It was all Cornerstone in this game for the first 25-minutes, holding a 21-point lead one time in the second half until Lawrence Tech flipped the switch and never looked back. The Blue Devils outscored the Golden Eagles 48-28 in the second half, a game that Cornerstone needed to have.
Mason Brooks led the way with 19 points as this loss leaves a very bad taste in the mouths of men's basketball as they fall to 9-7 (5-3) on the year. The Golden Eagles will remain on the road as they face off against Siena Heights on Saturday, January 11.
Game Recap – Lawrence Tech – 69 Cornerstone - 66
First Half: Cornerstone – 38 Lawrence Tech – 21
- Toby Woolcock and Blake Stewart scored the first five points of the game for the Golden Eagles as they lead early 5-4.
- It continued to be all Toby Woolcock to start this game as a three and a layup gave him eight quick points as Cornerstone holds a 12-6 advantage through the first five minutes.
- Toby Woolcock scored another easy layup and Jack Joldersma chipped in four straight points as the Golden Eagles continued to extend their lead 18-8.
- The Golden Eagles continued to break down the Lawrence Tech defense as Blake Stewart and Jack Joldersma both scored easy baskets to make it a 27-11 game.
- The defense of the Golden Eagles has held the sharp shooting Lawrence Tech team to just one made three through the first 15-minutes of the game as they lead 31-15.
- Cornerstone and Lawrence Tech traded baskets in the final two-minutes of the first half as the Golden Eagles find themselves up 38-21 through the first 20-minutes.

Second Half: Lawrence Tech – 69 Cornerstone - 66
- Cornerstone opened the second half on a 6-3 run thanks to scores from Jack Joldersma and Toby Woolcock to make it a 44-24 game.
- Lawrence Tech responded with a 6-0 run to make it 44-30 but Toby Woolcock would end the run with a layup to make it 46-30.
- The defense of Lawrence Tech has ramped up as a technical foul by the Golden Eagles gave the Blue Devils free points as they have gone on a 7-0 run to make Cornerstones lead under 10, 46-37.
- Cornerstone has continued to struggle on the offensive side of the floor as they have scored two points in the last six minutes as 11-minutes remain.
- Through the first two-minutes of the second half, the score was 44-24 Cornerstone. Lawrence Tech has gone on an eight-minute 18-2 run as Luke Rowlinson knocks down a pair of free throws to make it a 48-42 game.
- Mason Brooks scored the last four for the Golden Eagles to try and give them some breathing room, but the Blue Devils feel all the momentum as their three-point play made it a 52-50 game with eight-minutes left.
