Grand Rapids, Mich. – Men's Soccer went to battle in a pivotal WHAC matchup against Defiance looking to protect home field and hold position in the conference table. The Golden Eagles did just that with a convincing 8-1 victory highlighted by three seniors finding the back of the net on Senior Night. The men will look to keep the momentum rolling into their next match against Michigan-Dearborn on Wednesday, October 22

Game Recap: Cornerstone – 8 Defiance – 1
First Half:
- The first half started right away for the Golden Eagles through Calvin Curtis who headed home the first goal of the match that was provided from a flawless corner kick by Gavan Bignall in the 6th minute.
- Isaac Wood took advantage of the next opportunity for the Golden Eagles with a goal finished through chaos in the box to take a 2-0 lead in the 11th minute of the game.
- Steven Stidham provided the next assist in the match this time for an Ethan Hehl goal to take a dominant 3-0 lead just before the halftime whistle.
Second Half:
- Cornerstone saw their star senior striker find the next goal of the match in the 53rd minute as Tyler Corstange put a strong header into the back post corner to extend the Cornerstone lead to 4-0.
- Jake Madak finished off a pretty move from the home squad after Tyler Corstange stood up the ball as he volleyed it home to give CU the 5-0 lead in the 54th minute.
- In the 62nd minute Defiance showed some life as they scored off a smooth move to make the match 5-1.
- The Yellow Jackets surrendered a free ball to Seth Vigil that he turned into silky move around the goalkeeper to give Cornerstone yet another goal in the 70th minute.
- The Golden Eagles coaching staff put together a classy move with substitutes late in the match for all their seniors to receive one more standing ovation from the home crowd.
- Cornerstone saw Jadon Strawser and Seth Vigil score late to make this match final at 8-1.
