Grand Rapids, Mich. – Women's Volleyball returned to the Mol Arena to take on the Gray Wolves of Lourdes University. The first set went Cornerstone's way after 7 attack errors by Lourdes University saw the Golden Eagles take set one 25-14. The second set was a similar story, as Gabby VerBerkmoes finished it off with a kill of her own to win set two 25-14 for Cornerstone. Cornerstone University handled the Gray Wolves in the third set, as they completed the sweep with a third set score of 25-11 to advance to 20-6 overall and 12-4 in WHAC play. Women's Volleyball will keep on battling it out against WHAC opponents as they move on to Rochester Christian University on October 29th at 7 p.m. inside of the Mol Arena.

The match got underway with a kill and a service ace from the Gray Wolves that put them up 2-1 early on.

A kill by Aubrey Johnson and a setting mistake by the Gray Wolves extended Cornerstone's lead in set one to 6-3.

A huge kill by Gabby VerBerkmoes kept Cornerstone ahead in set one by four points 10-6.

Seven attack errors in set one by the Gray Wolves proved to be their demise as Cornerstone would take a win in the first set 25-14.
Second Set: Cornerstone – 25 Lourdes – 14

The first point of set two came off of the right hand of Gabby VerBerkmoes, as she put the ball away for a kill and got it going 1-0 for Cornerstone.

Another setting mistake by Lourdes helped build Cornerstone's lead up to four points in set two 6-2.

A block by Anastacia Trevino and another setting mistake by Lourdes tied the set back up 10-10.

A huge block by Gabby VerBerkmoes after a Lourdes' timeout saw Cornerstone extend their lead to eight 19-11 late in the second set.

Two service aces in a row by Giana Warwick continued the run for the Golden Eagles as they led in set two 22-11.

Another set put away by Gabby VerBerkmoes, as Cornerstone took the second set 25-14.
Third Set: Cornerstone – 25 Lourdes – 11

The first point of set three went to the Gray Wolves as they got a kill off of the block to make it 1-0.

Cornerstone was able to find some momentum early on as they scored three points in a row, two of those were kills by Gabby VerBerkmoes to grab the lead for Cornerstone 5-2.

A service error by Lourdes got Cornerstone into the 10s in set three. The Golden Eagles led 10-5.

Josilyn Potter got a kill through the block to force the Gray Wolves into a timeout in set three as Cornerstone led 14-5.

A huge block by Josilyn Potter and Gabby VerBerkmoes continued to help Cornerstone towards the end as they still led the set 17-7.

The Gray Wolves took their final timeout of the set as they trailed against Cornerstone 20-7 in the third set.

A phenomenal set by Ava Ford set up Josilyn Potter well on the opposite side to break a four point run by the Gray Wolves, Cornerstone still led in set three 21-11.

The Gray Wolves would be unable to work themselves back into the match, as Cornerstone took set three 25-11 and the match 3-0.
By The Numbers:
9/.692/7 – Gabby VerBerkmoes once again led both teams in total kills as she tallied nine on the day off of 13 total attempts hitting .692. Additionally, she put up 7 total blocks in just three sets.
5/22 – Five Services aces and 22 digs by Gianna Warwick helped the points to come for the Golden Eagles in this contest against Lourdes University.
16 – Payton Hutchinson grabbed 16 assists in the short three set matchup against the Gray Wolves.
