Grand Rapids, Mich. – Men's Basketball (1-2) continued their weekend matchups with another Crossroads League opponent, this time the #RV Foresters of Huntington University (5-1). The first half ended in a tie, as both teams shot about 50% from the field as the first half ended 38-38. Free throws were the story of the second half, as Cornerstone entered into the double bonus relatively early on. Huntington saw themselves to the charity stripe 25 times in the second half, making 19 of those attempts. Cornerstone was unable to match that success as they shot 66.7% from the line and fell to the Foresters 88-80. The Golden Eagles look ahead to their first WHAC matchup of the year next week. They will host Siena Heights University at 7:30 p.m. inside of the Mol Arena on Wednesday, November 15th.

The first two and a half minutes for Cornerstone was quiet until they tied it up 3-3 with a good three pointer from Levi Schultz.

The Foresters held an 11-point lead in the first half 22-11.

Cornerstone kept battling in the first half of play, as they took back the lead 31-30 off of a well-made layup by Blake Stewart with just three and a half minutes left to go.

A big three point shot by Trenton Boike fell through the basket to tie the game up against for Cornerstone 36-36 with just 60 seconds left.

The final points of half one came off the hand of Blake Stewart, who made the jumper and sent it to halftime 38-38.

Second Half

Blake Stewart got the ball rolling in the second half to give Cornerstone back the lead 40-38.

A seven-point run by Huntington saw them back on top of Cornerstone 55-53 with about 13 minutes left to play.

Another three pointer by Trenton Boike tied the game back up 57-57.

It was the 10-point lead for Huntington that helped them stay on top of the Golden Eagles late in the second half of play 76-66.

Cornerstone came within one point of the Foresters with two minutes and twenty-two seconds left to play 79-78.

The Golden Eagles were unable to bounce back to a lead in the second half as Huntington University came out with the win 88-80.
By the Numbers
19/5 – Kayden Bird led his team in total points as he put 19 up against Huntington. Additionally, he grabbed five rebounds in the game.
9/14 – Levi Schultz put up nine rebounds for Cornerstone, almost hitting a double-double. He followed it up with 14 points, two of which were from the three point line.
36/30 – The Foresters out-rebounded Cornerstone 36 to 30.
35% – Cornerstone shot 7-20 from outside the arch. The lid on the bucket seemed to stay as no single player was able to find their three-point groove in this contest.
