Southfield, Mich. – Men's Basketball (3-8) comeback effort fell short in their 73-63 loss to Lawrence Tech on the road.
Kayden Bird led the Golden Eagles with 18 points while
Levi Schultz recorded a double-double scoring ten points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Men's Basketball will travel to Indiana to take on IU-South Bend on December 20th for their final game before the Holidays with tip off set for 3 p.m.
Game Highlights – Cornerstone – 63 Lawrence Tech – 73
First Half
- Blake Stewart got the scoring started sinking two jumpers and then a three from Levi Schultz gave CU an early 7-2 lead.
- Cornerstone continued to hold their lead over the Blue Devils as Kayden Bird got a layup to fall to make it a 11-6 game.
- Kayden Bird hit back-to-back jumpers midway through the first half to extend the Golden Eagle's lead to 18-12.
- Cornerstone's offense continued to come from the hot hand of Kayden Bird as he sunk two more jumpers and drained a three to put CU up 25-19.
- LTU took their first lead of the game as they made it a 29-27 game with 3:25 left in the first half.
- The Golden Eagles kept it close but went into halftime down 37-33.
Second Half
- Cornerstone got off to a slow start in the second half and Lawrence Tech took advantage going on a 12-point run before Andy Mora nailed a three.
- Layups from Blake Stewart and Levi Schultz followed by a three from Trenton Boike kept CU in the game as they trailed LTU 57-45.
- The Golden Eagles got within eight thanks to a due run started by a layup and a three from Tre Seydel.
- CU went on a 10-0 run to stay within seven of the Blue Devils with just under four minutes remaining.
- Despite their comeback effort Cornerstone came up short falling to Lawrence Tech 73-63.
