Grand Rapids, Mich. – The Golden Eagles returned to action inside Mol Arena after a long Christmas Break. They faced a tough matchup against the #7 Bethel Pilots who have been red hot all season long (11-1). Cornerstone came out in the first half with a strong purpose leading through the first seven minutes, but Bethel ran away with the contest after that mark taking it 93-72. The Golden Eagles host UNOH as they return to WHAC Conference play on Saturday, January 3

Game Highlights – Cornerstone – 72 #7 Bethel – 93
First Half
- Both teams managed to find buckets on their first possession of the contest as Kayden Bird knocked down a corner three to give the Golden Eagles the early lead.
- The next two minutes played out gritty with turnovers telling the story until Kayden Bird added his second bucket of the day to help keep Cornerstone on top.
- Andy Mora struck fire from behind the arc at the 15-minute mark with back-to-back three-point baskets as Cornerstone led 12-9.
- Bethel found their first lead of the game with 13 minutes on the clock as they began to pick up the pace and outrun the Golden Eagles.
- Tre Seydel made an instant impact on the game with a knock down three to keep Cornerstone close to the Pilots.
- The back-and-forth scoring continued this time through Levi Schultz who scored five quick points, but the Golden Eagles still trailed 26-23 with nine minutes to play in the half.
- Bethel found their form at this point as they went on a massive run to take a dominant 48-27 lead with three minutes to play until the halftime buzzer.
- Levi Schultz and Tre Seydel closed out the scoring for the Golden Eagles half as they trailed 51-34.
Second Half
- The second half started with a Blake Stewart jumper as the Golden Eagles looked to get back on level terms quickly.
- The star shooter for Bethel Austin Cripe continued to shine as he reached 20 points with 17 minutes left in the game.
- Levi Schultz worked well in the post as he found three straight buckets for the Golden Eagles, but the team trailed by 21 points with 13 minutes left in the contest.
- The Pilots saw nearly all their shots fall in a stretch that took their lead to 79-50 over the Golden Eagles.
- Levi Schultz found a wide open three ball thanks to Andy Mora weaving through traffic making it his 6th assist of the game at the seven-minute mark.
- Colin Heyboer added the next big bucket of the game with a deep three for Cornerstone.
- Judah Bartels closed out the scoring in the contest with a buzzer beater jumper, but it was all too late for the Golden Eagles as they fell 93-72 to the #7 Pilots.
