Grand Rapids, Mich. – Baseball finished their WHAC Tournament run with two losses officially putting an end to the 2026 season.
Drew Goodman,
Andrew Eley and
Michael Ruiz all recorded four hits on the day with Goodman and Ruiz also driving in two runs. Eley scored four runs while
Andrew Meny had three hits and two RBIs.
Game One Recap: Cornerstone – 4 Cleary – 14
- Cleary struck first as in the top of the second a fielder's choice brought a run into score which gave the Cougars a 1-0.
- Two singles for Cleary in the top of the third brought two more runs into score as they extended their lead to 3-0 over Cornerstone.
- Cornerstone got their first hit of the game in the bottom half of the frame as Thomas Rupp singled to center but was left stranded as the Golden Eagles hit back-to-back fly outs to end the inning.
- The Cougar offense erupted in the top of the fourth as two singles, a walk and an error brought nine runs in for Cleary as they grew their lead to 12.
- The Golden Eagles got on the board in the bottom of the fourth as Andrew Meny doubled to lead off the inning and was brought into score on throwing error.
- Cornerstone cut into the Cougar lead more in the fifth as Drew Goodman singled to drive in Michael Ruiz followed by another double off the bat of Andrew Meny which drove in Andrew Eley and Drew Goodman to make it a 12-4 game in favor of Cleary.
- In the top of the seventh Cleary added two more runs off a ground out and a fielder's choice to make it a 14-4 game.
- Drew Goodman doubled in the bottom half of the inning but Cleary shut the door, striking out the next two batters to end the game.
Game Two Recap: Cornerstone – 9 Indiana Tech – 18
- Cornerstone opened the scoring in the first as Luke Griffith singled to center field to drive in Andrew Eley and gave CU a 1-0 lead.
- Indiana Tech answered in the bottom of the inning as three singles brought three runs across as the Warriors took the lead.
- The Golden Eagles got within one in the top of the second and Broedy Dunham stole third and then scored on an error.
- Michael Ruiz tied the game in the third as he singled to bring John Caliendo into score and made it a 3-3 game.
- Cornerstone took their first lead of the game as a sac fly by Luke Griffith scored Andrew Eley, followed by back-to-back doubles by John Caliendo and Corbin Westerkamp that scored Drew Goodman and Caliendo. Michael Ruiz capped off the inning with a single that brought Westerkamp into score and gave CU a 7-3 advantage.
- Indiana Tech responded with two in the bottom of the fourth as a single to center brought two runs across to score.
- The Warriors regained the lead the following inning getting six runs across highlighted by a bases clearing triple as they took a 12-7 lead over CU.
- In the bottom of the sixth, Indiana Tech extended their lead as two singles in a row drove two runs in to put the Warriors ahead by 11.
- The Golden Eagles loaded the bases in the top of the seventh and brought two runs in as Drew Goodman hit a sacrifice fly and Andrew Meny singled as CU got back within single digits.
- Cornerstone threatened in the ninth as Drew Goodman hit a two out triple followed by a walk by Andrew Meny, but Indiana Tech closed out the game striking out the next hitter and securing the win.
