Kokomo, Ind. – Women's Volleyball completes multiple comebacks to win five set thriller vs Marian. Aubrey Johnson led the Golden Eagles with 30 kills and 13 digs while Gabby VerBerkmoes had 19 kills and six total blocks. Gianna Warwick recorded 29 digs and two service aces with Gwyn VerBerkmoes tallying 18 kills. Women's Volleyball continues play in Kokomo, Indiana with games against Rio Grande and #12 IU-Kokomo at 9:45 and 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, August 29th.
 
Game Recap – #21 Cornerstone – 3 #RV Marian – 0 (20-25, 25-22, 25-16, 25-27, 16-14)
 
First Set: Cornerstone – 20 Marian – 25

• The match began with Marian taking a 5-2 lead over CU.
• Cornerstone rallied back to get within one with two errors by the Knights and kills from Gwyn VerBerkmoes and Aubrey Johnson to make it 8-7.
• The Golden Eagles continued to keep it close in set one as kills from Gabby VerBerkmoes, Aubrey Johnson and Kaelyn Sohre tied the set at 12.
• Aubrey Johnson added two more kills along with Gabby VerBerkmoes and Gwyn VerBerkmoes as the Golden Eagles continue to claw at the Marian lead making it 20-18 in set one.
• Marian closed out the first set on a 5-2 run as Aubrey Johnson's two late kills weren't enough as CU dropped the first set 25-20.

Second Set: Cornerstone – 25 Marian – 22

• The second set started with the Knights quickly taking a 9-2 lead and forcing Cornerstone to use a timeout.
• The Golden Eagles came out of the timeout with four straight points, two kills from Aubrey Johnson and one by Josilyn Potter to make it 9-6 in set two.
• Cornerstone tied the set 11 with two kills from Gwyn VerBerkmoes and a block by Kaelyn Sohre and Gwyn VerBerkmoes.
• Marian took a 17-14 lead as Gabby VerBerkmoes and Gwyn VerBerkmoes both recorded kills to keep Cornerstone close.
• Cornerstone took their first lead of the set as three kills by Aubrey Johnson and one from Gabby VerBerkmoes put CU up 19-17.
• CU held onto their lead as two kills from Aubrey Johnson and Kaelyn Sohre gave the Golden Eagles a three-point lead.
• Gabby VerBerkmoes closed out the second set with two straight kills to give Cornerstone a 25-22 win.

Third Set: Cornerstone – 25 Marian – 16

• The third set began with Cornerstone taking a 7-2 lead with three kills from Aubrey Johnson, back-to-back service aces by Gianna Warwick and a block by Kaelyn Sohre and Payton Hutchinson forcing Marian to take an early timeout.
• The Knights battled back but two kills from Aubrey Johnson kept Cornerstone ahead by three to make it 11-8.
• Despite the Knights tying the set at 11, Cornerstone went on to score four-straight points with kills by Gabby VerBerkmoes, Gwyn VerBerkmoes and Josilyn Potter.
• The Golden Eagles continued to grow their lead as Gabby VerBerkmoes collects three-straight kills to give CU a 21-13 lead.
• Cornerstone took set three 25-16 as Gabby VerBerkmoes and Aubrey Johnson close out the set with kills to put CU up two sets to one.

 
Fourth Set: Cornerstone – 25 Marian – 27

• The fourth set saw Marian take a quick 6-1 lead over the Golden Eagles with three attack errors by CU.
• Cornerstone battled back within three with three kills by Aubrey Johnson and two from Josilyn Potter to make it 9-6.
• Marian responded and extended their lead with multiple errors by CU to make it 13-8 in favor of the Knights.
• The Golden Eagles came out of a timeout firing getting two kills from Gabby VerBerkmoes and a service ace by Olivia Endris forcing Marian into a timeout.
• The Knights grew their lead to five before four straight errors brought Cornerstone back within two.
• Two kills by Aubrey Johnson and one from Gabby VerBerkmoes tied the fourth set at 19.
• The set maintained a close battle Marian held a 23-22 lead, but Cornerstone tied the set at 24 with kills from Gabby VerBerkmoes and Gwyn VerBerkmoes.
• The Knights would get back-to-back points to secure the set four win 27-25.

Fifth Set: Cornerstone – 16 Marian – 14

• Marian took a 4-1 lead to begin set five as a kill from Josilyn Potter is CU's lone point to begin the set.
• Two kills from Gabby VerBerkmoes and one by Aubrey Johnson brought Cornerstone within one making it 6-5.
• The Golden Eagles tied the set at eight, but the Knights retook the lead going up 10-8.
• CU tied the set once again as a block by Gabby VerBerkmoes and Gwyn VerBerkmoes made it 11-11.
• Marian retook the lead once again, but a Gwyn VerBerkmoes kill and an error by the Knights tied the set at 14.
• Cornerstone takes the set and match as a service ace by Ava Ford and a kill by Aubrey Johnson secured a 16-14 set five win and 3-2 set victory for the Golden Eagles.
