Liam, Ohio. – The Golden Eagles took to the road and began the weekend with a matchup against the Racers of the University of Northwestern Ohio. The first set went Cornerstone's way 25-16, defined by multiple strong runs by the Golden Eagles before Kaeyln Sohre wrapped a bow on the opening set with a kill. The second set saw some grit from the Racers as both teams showed their offensive quality, before Anastacia Trevino and Josilyn Potter put up the block that helped lead Cornerstone to a set two win 26-24. The third set saw Gabby VerBerkmoes put away 12-points through a combination of kills and blocks as the Golden Eagles took set three 25-17 and swept the Racers inside of the Garage. The Golden Eagles continue on the road with a matchup against a top conference opponent in Indiana Tech. The match versus the Warriors will take place in Fort Wayne, Ind. at 2 p.m.

Second Set: Cornerstone – 26 Northwestern Ohio – 24

The Golden Eagles saw themselves down by four points in the second set before a run of five saw Cornerstone take the lead 10-9 over the Racers.

Gwyn VerBerkmoes knocked down another kill that gave Cornerstone the three-point lead in set two 16-13, which forced UNOH into a timeout.

Cornerstone led 21-17 in the second set before the Racers took the lead after a four-point run 23-22.

Josilyn Potter got the kill that made it set point for Cornerstone 24-23, as the Racers took a timeout.

UNOH tied it right back up 24-24 out of the well-used timeout.

The third set began as a close contest between opposing sides, as Gabby VerBerkmoes put a kill away that kept Cornerstone in the lead 4-2.

The kill by Aubrey Johnson kept the Golden Eagles up by two, 6-4 in the third set.

Another point from a Gabby VerBerkmoes kill kept Cornerstone narrowly ahead of the Racers 8-7.

Two more kills were tallied by Aubrey Johnson that tied the set back up 11-11.

UNOH jumped ahead by two 13-11 over Cornerstone midway through the set.

The slide attack by Anastacia Trevino was successful, but Cornerstone remained behind by one point 14-13.

Ally Kragt got the kill from the right-side, as Cornerstone trailed in the third set 16-14.

Two blocks in-a-row by Gabby VerBerkmoes, followed by a kill forced UNOH into a timeout as Cornerstone took the lead 18-17.

Gabby VerBerkmoes kept it going out of the UNOH timeout with two more kills, as Cornerstone led 20-17 and UNOH headed back to the bench with their second timeout of the set.

Gabby VerBerkmoes scored her 12th point of the set with one last kill, as Cornerstone took the third and final set 25-17 which completed the road-sweep of the Racers.

19/5 – Not only did Gabby VerBerkmoes put away 12 points in the final set, but she tied a career-high 19 kills in the three-setter against the Racers, along with five total blocks.
17/17 – 17 Kills and 17 Digs from Aubrey Johnson helped Cornerstone dominate on the road.
51 – Payton Hutchinson dished out 51 assists on the night with four digs.
12 – Riley Pilat tied her career-high dig tally, as she totaled 12 on the night.
