LIMA, Ohio. – Cornerstone Men's Soccer headed to Ohio to take on UNOH in another WHAC contest. The first half got going right away for the home side as they took the lead 1-0 in the fifth minute off of a free kick outside of the box. The second half saw the Racers double their lead off of a free-kick from just outside of the 18 yard box that flew into the top left corner. The Golden Eagles got on the scoresheet in the 87th minute after a long ball from Isaac Kwantes found its way into the box. Lake Vander Ploeg scored his second of the season after getting a touch on the ball to nudge it past the goalkeeper. The Racers held the lead 2-1 in the final minutes and completed the home win against Cornerstone.

First Half:

Early on in the first half, Cornerstone were handed the first yellow card of the game. The challenge by Mason Heyboer in the 5th minute warranted his name entering the book.

The freekick off of the early foul saw the Racers take a 1-0 lead, as it trickled past the defense onto the foot of UNOH into the back of the net.

The Golden Eagles won a corner kick in the 18th minute, but the ball was cleared by the Racers who held the lead 1-0.

Seth Vigil tried his luck in the 25th minute with a shot that was pushed away by the Racers' goalie.

A corner in the 27th minute saw Steven Stidham get his head on it, but the goalkeeper of UNOH made the save to keep the score 1-0.

Cornerstone had one last push on offense in the first half with seconds to go, but the cross into the box sailed out of bounds as the buzzer went off for halftime. The Racers led at the half 1-0 over Cornerstone.
Second Half:

In the 58th minute of play, Cornerstone gave away a foul just outside of the box, which UNOH followed up with an attempt at goal that found its way to the top left corner of the net. UNOH built their lead 2-0 on top of the Golden Eagles.

Justin Hirwa let his shot fly in the 60th minute, but was denied by the goalkeeper. The Golden Eagles still trailed 2-0.

The save by Luke Philo was necessary as the Racers continued to lay-on the pressure in the second half. The score remained 2-0 in the 68th minute.

A long ball into the box with less than four minutes left saw Lake Vander Ploeg get on the end of it and put it past the goalkeeper, which brought one back for Cornerstone as they still trailed behind 2-1 in the 87th minute.

The Golden Eagles were unable to complete the comeback as they were handed a loss by UNOH 2-1.
