GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles are set to host Lawrence Tech to open the second half of WHAC play as they will be playing a Tolsma Tough game in honor of Alexa Tolsma. Alexa Tolsma is the niece of Head Coach
Kim Elders and she continues her fight with cancer. To honor her and her family, the team wanted to dedicate a game to her and will be wearing warm-up shirts in honor of her and her fight. The game will tip off at 3 p.m. in Mol Arena on Saturday, January 18 and will have live video, audio, and stats available at cugoldeneagles.com.

The Golden Eagles rebounded with a pair of conference wins last week, taking down Concordia on the road and defeating Aquinas at home in a rescheduled Monday night game. Cornerstone is now 12-7, 6-4 WHAC as they sit just two games back from the division leader Indiana Tech.

Historic Top 25 Run
The NAIA released a new DII Top 25 poll on Wednesday, January 15 and Cornerstone was not in it for the first time since December 3, 2013 when the team was just receiving votes. It was quite a historic run for the Golden Eagles concluding the second longest active streak in the NAIA being a top-25 team in 64 consecutive polls. Indiana Wesleyan is the only team with a longer streak, as it remains active with 85 consecutive appearances in the poll.

Head Coach
Kim Elders continues to be dominant in his 27th season at Cornerstone as he recorded his 400th win against teams from the state of Michigan with a 70-61 win at Concordia. Elders is also just 10 wins away from 700 in his career.
Wacky WHAC
The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference has seen no dominant team on the men's side through the first half of conference play as Indiana Tech leads the division with an 8-2 WHAC record. However the conference remains anyone's to win with seven teams being .500 or above through the first half of the year.
History vs. the Blue Devils
The Golden Eagles have dominated the Blue Devils in the teams 15 game history, going 14-1 all-time. CU's only loss came last season in Southfield by a score of 82-73.
Scouting Lawrence Tech
The struggling Blue Devils come off their biggest win of the season, taking down no. 13 Lourdes on Wednesday night 71-64 to improve to 8-9, 3-7 WHAC on the year. Prior to that win, LTU had lost four straight struggling defensively as they allowed opponents an average of 89.0 PPG through those four games. Sophomore Jordan Henry leads a guard heavy offense right now with 16.2 PPG, despite coming off the bench in all 17 games this season. Similarly to previous years, the Blue Devils rely heavily on the three-point line ranking 23rd in NAIA DII in three's made per game at 9.94. One of the biggest areas of weakness for Lawrence Tech is on the glass, averaging a WHAC worst 33.53 rebounds per game. LTU is not the tallest of teams with just two guys at 6-7 as the tallest members of the team. Lawrence Tech also has three players under 6-0 on the roster. Lawrence Tech is young however with no seniors on the team and a dominating 10 sophomores on the team.
