GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - After a 14 day layoff due to COVID-19 cancelations, Cornerstone baseball will play a conference game for the first time since April 27, 2019. The team will host Lawrence Tech for a 1 p.m. double-header on Saturday, March 27 at De Witt Field. CU comes into the game at 5-5 overall looking to come back from a four game skid against Doane before the postponement. Live video/stats/audio will be available for the games at the below link.

Cornerstone last played a conference regular season game on April 27, 2019 which will be 700 days from the 2021 WHAC Opener. CU last saw Lawrence Tech on May 2, 2019 in the first round of the WHAC Tournament where they won 3-2, their first ever post season win in program history. Due to the delay in conference games with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Cornerstone has just six players on the varsity roster that have ever played in a conference game. Those six players are:

14 days ago Cornerstone traveled to Iowa to play Doane out of Nebraska. The Tigers were able to take all four games in the series, holding Cornerstone to four runs or less in all four contests, dropping the team to 5-5 on the year.

Adam Hotovy holds a 3.48 ERA through a team high 10.1 innings pitched, the best ERA among any CU pitcher who has started this season.
Jared Riley has struggled in the ERA category, but leads the team with 11 strikeouts in just 6.1 innings pitched.
Scouting Lawrence Tech
Lawrence Tech dealt with a multitude of early season cancelations but have managed to play 14 games so far in the month of March and gone 6-8, 1-1 WHAC in those games. They opened the conference season at Northwestern Ohio and lost 3-2 in game one before taking game two 9-8. As a team, Lawrence Tech is hitting .307 this season and has been outscoring opponents significantly late in games. LTU has been outscored 25-16 in the first two innings of play however, which has cost them some games this season. This is just the fifth season that the Blue Devils have had a program as they started baseball back in 2016-17.
