Cornerstone Notes
  • The Golden Eagles are off to their best start over four games since the 2013 season, when Cornerstone also went 3-1.
  • Kaitlin Johnson leads the team at the plate with a .500 batting average through four games, with six hits in 12 at bats.
  • Alessa Baldwin-Buchner and Sierra Sanchez both came through with clutch home runs last week, with Buchner hitting a walkoff home run on Wednesday against Goshen and Sanchez hitting the go-ahead home run on Saturday at Lourdes, which proved to be the game-winner. Alessa earned WHAC Player of the Week last week.
  • After finishing the shortened 2020 season with a .395 batting average, McKenzie Butgereit has started this season at an even .400 clip, with six hits in 15 at bats.
  • Mikayla Meade and Kaitlin Johnson share identical pitching statistics so far this year, with 3.50 ERAs in 10 innings of work. Ashley Loera earned the victory over Goshen with four innings of scoreless work in the circle.
  • The 13 runs put up against Lourdes in game one is the most runs scored in a game for CU since the 14-13 loss to Aquinas in 2017.

Scouting Bethel
  • Cornerstone has played against Bethel five times since the 2015 season, all of which were on neutral fields in Florida. Cornerstone has won three of those five contests. In 2020, the Golden Eagles split two games with the Pilots, with the win coming in 8-7 walkoff fashion.
  • The Pilots enter the week at 3-7 overall after wrapping up their spring break trip to Florida last week.
  • Mahri Younger leads the team with a .452 batting average through ten games.
  • Through ten games, the Pilots are outscored by their opposition 66-25.
  • The Bethel pitching staff has a combined 7.60 ERA and a .388 batting average against.

Scouting Saint Francis (Ind.)
  • The Cougars defeated the Golden Eagles in Florida in each of the last two seasons by scores of 10-9 and 7-2.
  • Saint Francis sits at 1-5 overall heading into this week.
  • Cassidy Ferrer and Taylor Tucker share the team lead with eight hits through six games this season.
  • In 18.2 innings of work this season, Mackenzie Rust shows an impressive 0.38 ERA after surrendering only one earned run while racking up 26 strikeouts over that span.
