The Golden Eagles will travel to Ann Arbor to take on Concordia on Wednesday and will return to the East side of the state on Saturday for a doubleheader against Michigan-Dearborn. Cornerstone Notes
The Golden Eagles are 12-8, 5-5 WHAC. Both CU pitchers pitched complete games against Lourdes last weekend, with
Mikayla Meade surrendering four hits in a scoreless game one while
Ashley Loera improved to 3-0 on the season while letting in only three earned runs in game two. Cornerstone has 11 batters batting above .300 this season, led by
Kaitlin Johnson at .354.
Sierra Sanchez leads the team with 19 RBI and nine extra base hits this season. The Golden Eagles are a perfect 4-0 this season in road games.
Concordia Notes
Concordia is currently 16-15 overall, 4-2 WHAC. The Cardinals came in fifth in the WHAC preseason poll released last fall. Like Cornerstone, Concordia split with WHAC favorite Madonna in their doubleheader earlier this season. Shannon McAlinden leads the team with a .398 batting average and 27 RBI in 31 games this season. The pitching staff has an impressive 2.74 combined ERA, led by Lauren Reichel with a 2.30 ERA as well as eight complete games.
Michigan Dearborn Notes
The Wolverines are just 2-2 so far this season, with a sweep of Rochester and a pair of losses to Madonna. They will play two more doubleheaders prior to facing off against Cornerstone this upcoming Saturday. Madelin Skene had three RBI in their win against Rochester earlier this season. Erin McCune pitched a complete game against Rochester, surrendering only four hits and one earned run. The Wolverines were slated to finish ninth in the WHAC preseason poll that was released last fall.
