GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Cornerstone Softball team will continue its season this week with three more WHAC doubleheaders. The Golden Eagles (10-6, 3-3 WHAC) will host cross town rival Aquinas on Wednesday afternoon to conclude a seven-doubleheader home stretch. The team will then hit the road for a weekend trip with a doubleheader at Lourdes on Friday before traveling to Siena Heights for a two game set on Saturday. Cornerstone Notes
- The Golden Eagles have split their first three WHAC doubleheaders with Indiana Tech, Northwestern Ohio, and Madonna.
- Sierra Sanchez leads the team with 19 runs, 18 RBI, and 19 hits, eight of which have been for extra bases. The senior has reached base safely in every game this season.
- Allisen Martz had a clutch three RBI double in the fifth inning against Madonna on Saturday, which proved to be the difference as the Golden Eagles won 6-3.
- The Golden Eagles are batting .304 as a team, led by Kaitlin Johnson at .410.
- Kaitlin Johnson and Mikayla Meade share identical 4-3 records in the circle. Ashley Loera has a team-leading 3.77 ERA and has pitched 13 innings in relief.
Aquinas Notes
- The Saints are 11-5, 3-1 in the WHAC. In conference play, Aquinas has swept Indiana Tech and split with Northwestern Ohio.
- Aquinas is batting an impressive .343 as a team so far this season
- Izzy Dawson leads the team with 19 RBI, including three in a game against Olivet Nazarene last week where she went 4-for-4 at the plate.
- Leah Ash has tossed three complete games this season out of seven starts.
Lourdes Notes
- The Gray Wolves are off to a 3-18 start to the 2021 season.
- Cornerstone swept Lourdes in a pair of non conference games last month, winning 13-5 and 7-5.
- Emily Wallace leads the team with 21 hits and 10 RBI this season
- Ashley Roth leads the pitching staff with a 4.50 ERA and a 3-4 record in 42 innings of work.
Siena Heights Notes
- Siena Heights is 10-6 overall, 1-1 WHAC so far this season. They'll play against Lourdes on Wednesday before taking on CU on Saturday.
- The games against Cornerstone will be Siena Heights' first home games of the season.
- The Saints only conference action so far was a split with Northwestern Ohio last week.
- Siena Heights has a team batting average of .321 this season, led by Sam Spicer with a .434 clip.
