GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Cornerstone University Athletic Staff and Assistant Athletic Director for External Operations and Facilities are excited to announce the addition of
Chandler McKinney and
Ryan Slack to the Facility and Event Management team. McKinney, a Cornerstone baseball player and alum, has been hired part time as the Athletics Facilities and Events Coordinator as he continues at Cornerstone and pursues his master's degree. Slack, an Indiana Wesleyan graduate, has been hired as the Athletic Events Graduate Assistant where he will serve in the athletics office for two years while he also pursues his master's degree at Cornerstone.
Chandler McKinney
Chandler has been involved in the athletics program as a student worker and an athlete on the baseball team for the last three years. In that time, Chandler has worked closely with all aspects of game-day management and financial operations. Chandler will now take on extra responsibility and work with internal and external clients in his current position confirming facility setup requirements and staffing needs.
Chandler is a former student-athlete and played baseball at Cornerstone from 2018-2021 and completed his undergraduate degree in May of 2021. Chandler is now working towards his Masters of Business Administration with a focus on Project Management.
Chandler resides near downtime Grand Rapids and is an expert on local cuisine. In his free time, Chandler enjoys playing golf, walking his dog, and frequents many Midwest major and minor league ballparks.
Ryan Slack
Ryan recently graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University where he completed his Bachelors of Science in Sport's Management in just three years. During Ryan's time as a Wildcat, he served in many different roles within the Athletic Department. Performing Managerial skills Ryan's focus was fan experience and game-day operations of the events.
As a Team Manager from the IWU Women's Softball team, Women's Basketball team, and the Men's Basketball team, Ryan has been a part of hosting many nationally recognized events such as opening rounds for the NAIA National Championship's for Softball and Basketball.
Ryan is now studying to get his Master's in Business Administration with a concentration in Project Management here at Cornerstone.
Ryan and his newly married Wife Morgan, have a passion to serve the Lord and see the Gospel reach the world of Athletics through discipleship. During his time here, Ryan plan's to work closely with the Student-Athlete Workers and to see them raised up as leaders, who can equip others with the tools they need to share the gospel.
In his free time, Ryan enjoys watching and playing sports, traveling to new places, and spending time with his family. His favorite teams are the Green Bay Packers, and the Indiana Pacers. His favorite place he has traveled to so far is Costa Rica.
