GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Cornerstone continues their season opening home stand vs. Huntington out of the Crossroads League on Saturday, September 4 at 1 p.m. CU is playing just their second regular season game of the year, after winning 4-0 in the season opener vs. Saint Xavier. Laura Helder WHAC Player of the Week
Junior
Laura Helder earned her first WHAC Offensive Player of the Week award after a five-point outing in the season opener with two goals and one assist. Helder in the opener recorded the same amount of points she recorded all of the 2020 season.
Six Game Home Stands
Not very many teams find themselves with six consecutive games at home, but Head Coach
Randy Strawser and the Golden Eagles are notorious for these long stretches, with three six-game home stands in the last five years. CU last had a six-game home stand in 2019 and previously had a six-game home stand in 2016. Six straight home games is also the longest stretch Cornerstone has had at home under Head Coach

With the Golden Eagles taking early command in the season opener, Head Coach
Randy Strawser had the opportunity to play a lot of different girls. CU saw 23 players see action including three keepers rotating in net.
History vs. Huntington
Cornerstone has dominated the Foresters in 19 contests, going 17-2-0 overall in program history. CU played Huntington for the first time in 1997, the first year of the program and last played them in 2019. The only losses for CU came in 2002 and 2011. Cornerstone has won the last eight appearances, outscoring Huntington 20-6.
Scouting the Foresters
Huntington has played two games so far in 2021 and has gone undefeated with a 6-0 and 2-0 win over IU-South Bend and IU-Northwest respectively. HU struggled just a season ago, going 2-10-1 and falling to Spring Arbor in the Crossroads League Tournament. Of the eight goals scored this season, six different Foresters have scored, with Ashtyn Patrick being the lone player to record two goals.
