BROOKINGS, S.D. – The Golden Eagles indoor campaign came to an end with seven more athletes on the podium as
Luke Pohl,
Colten Covington and the men's distance medley relay (DMR) crew all earned NAIA All-American honors. The men finished 16
th overall while the women finished 50
th at the 2022 NAIA Indoor Nationals. Cornerstone concludes the indoor season and will now begin prep for the outdoor season at the IWU Polar Bear Invite in the end of March.
Men's Results:
The first men's event was the 5000m final for
Luke Pohl and
Colten Covington. The dynamic duo for the first time in men's indoor program history finished NAIA All-American in the same event. Pohl finished second overall with a time of 14:33.02 for a PR and his best finish at indoor nationals to move to second all-time in CU program history in the event. Covington finished eighth overall with a time of 14:43.40 to also earn NAIA All-American honors.
The day ended with the men's DMR.
Luke Pohl, just a half hour after finishing the 5000m anchored the crew of
Nate Vruggink,
Elijah Wallace,
Grant Gayan, and himself to a time of 10:03.51 to finish sixth in the event and earn NAIA All-American honors. The crew moved to fifth all-time on CU's indoor list with the time.
Women's Results:
The day began with the lone women's event with
Anna Martin competing in the 3000m finals. Martin could not keep up as she battled through some illness, finishing with a time of 11:07.07 to finish 12
th of the 12 competitors in the finals.
What's Next?
Cornerstone's indoor season has come to an end. The team will pick up outdoor in the end of March at the IWU Polar Bear Invite.
