GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Junior Jake Collins took the Golden Eagles by storm in his first year in Grand Rapids, highlighting the campaign with the program's first ever NAIA All-American honor as he was named to the Honorable Mention Team. The NAIA released the list of the top players in 2022 with 17 NAIA First Team All-Americans, 17 Second Teamers, and 34 Honorable Mention All-Americans. Collins came in ranked 60^th on the list to earn NAIA Honorable Mention All-American honors. 

Collins was the definition of consistent throughout the year, but he seemed to get better the farther he got into WHAC play, leading the team with a program record .450 average for a single season. In conference play, he hit .493 to lead CU to the four seed in the WHAC Tournament. Collins scored a team high 50 runs to go along with 55 RBI in 2022 which are also both single season records. He finished second on the team with 12 HR's behind Austin Hurt and had a slugging percentage of .812 on the year. Collins was an outstanding left fielder this season, holding a .957 fielding percentage and only committing three errors to go along with 63 putouts. 

Collins is the first player in CU program history to earn NAIA All-American Honors and he joins Aaron Krupansky and Zach Bohl as the only other players to be honored by the NAIA for their efforts on the field, as both those players earned NAIA Gold Gloves in their career.
