GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles earned this victory after a back-and-forth scrappy tough battle with Siena Heights. Cornerstone was able to pull of the 2-1 victory thanks to the second half penalty kick goal by
Christian Galloway. The Saints got very physical after that goal and Cornerstone matched that physicality with great defense to diminish any opportunity for Siena heights. Cornerstone stays home this week for Senior Night as they host Cleary University at 7 p.m. Make sure to attend the game early to celebrate the Seniors for their careers as a Golden Eagle.

• Cornerstone had an early opportunity in the 9th minute with a corner kick by
Christian Galloway but was not able to capitalize on the opportunity.
• Siena Heights had good opportunities with multiple corner kicks in the 19th minute, but the Golden Eagle defense was able to stop the Saints opportunities.
• In the 26th minute, Cornerstone had an opportunity with a corner kick and the header by
Caleb Griffith was saved by the Saints goalie.
• In the 27th minute,
David Mawi scored his first goal of the season off a pass from
Kyle Barba that floated in the air and found its way into the right side of the goal. Giving Cornerstone the 1-0 lead.
• Siena Heights responded with a goal of their own in the 33rd minute, as Lewis Crombie found the back of the net.
• Cornerstone had a great opportunity in the 42nd minute but the shot by
Tyler Corstange missed high.
• Cornerstone and Siena Heights head into halftime tied 1-1.
• In the 50th minute, Cornerstone had a great opportunity thanks to a foul in the box that led to the penalty kick goal for
Christian Galloway, giving the Golden Eagles a 2-1 lead.
• Cornerstone had another great opportunity in the 59th minute with a corner kick by
Jeff Herrema but was not able to capitalize on the opportunity.
• In the 78th minute, Cornerstone had another great opportunity but the shot by
Boston Knapp missed just right.
• Cornerstone finished with a good defensive battle to win the game 2-1.
