Martin finishes National Runner-Up as women finish 19th and men place 39th

BROOKINGS, S.D. – Sophomore Anna Martin highlighted two NAIA All-American honors on the final day of the NAIA Indoor National Championships as the National Runner-Up in the 3000m with a school record time. Luke Pohl also earned NAIA All-American for the men's side with a third place finish. The women scored 14 team points to earn 19th overall whole the men scored six team points to place 39th overall. 
 
Men's Results:
Josh DeVries opened men's action in the pole vault final. He struggled overall clearing 4.50m but was unable to clear the second height of 4.65m to finish 18th overall outside of NAIA All-American status. 
 
Luke Pohl was the final male to compete looking to become the first and only men's NAIA All-American. He did just that earning third overall with a time of 14:34.83. Aaron Jones and Peter Shippy of Milligan and Dordt were able to pull away to beat Pohl as the only athletes ahead of him. 
 
Women's Results:
Braely Herrema and Kaitlin Essig opened the women's action in the high jump. Both athletes were able to clear the opening height of 1.59m on their second attempt. As the bar moved to 1.64m both athletes were unable to clear finishing in a large tie for 13th place outside of NAIA All-American status. 
 
In the women's 3000m final, sophomore Anna Martin earned NAIA All-American status in style as the National Runner-Up with a school record time of 9:50.39. She came within three seconds of Addy Wiley who won the event out of Huntington University. 
 
The final event Cornerstone competed in during the NAIA Indoor Nationals was the women's DMR final. The same crew of Malarie Pinwar, Sarah Genzink, Kori Baumann, and Anna Martin competed for a time of 12:03.29 to finish ninth just outside of NAIA All-American status. 
 
What's Next?
Cornerstone will have a short rest as the indoor season has come to an end, and then they will begin outdoor competition in late March.
