Cornerstone got the hits they needed in the second game Kaitlyn Cain led the way for the Golden Eagles with a two-RBI night. They will be right tomorrow as they face off against #17 Marian at 2 p.m. and Fisher College at 4:30 p.m.

Game One Highlights – Florida National – 2 Cornerstone – 1
  • Florida National got things started off quick in the top of the first with a single and a double to make it second and third with no outs two batters into the game. Both those runs would come into score as it was a FNU 2-0 lead early to start.
  • Delaney Wilson continued her hot start to the season with a base hit in the bottomed half of the first but was stranded at first as Cornerstone went down quiet in the inning.
  • Both pitchers have settled in nicely as Alyssa Braam has quieted the FNU offense after the first inning as she has not allowed another run after five innings of play. Cornerstone's bats have stayed quiet as well as they have only two hits to show through the first four innings.
  • Alyssa Braam has continued to mow down the FNU as they have had nothing going since the first inning. Cornerstone's bats have woken up a little as Abbey Brower kicked off the inning with a base hit off the pitcher's glove. First and third with two outs as Syndey Carr comes up to bat as she roped a line drive into center field to drive in the first run for the Golden Eagles. The tying run was stranded on third as FNU leads Cornerstone 2-1 after the sixth.
  • FNU shut down the Cornerstone bats in the bottom of the seventh as they held the Golden Eagles to four hits for the game as they won 2-1

Game Two Highlights – Cornerstone – 8 Culver- Stockton - 1
  • Cornerstone got off to a great but whacky start in the top of the first inning. After he first two batters reach, Delaney Wilson went up to lay down a sacrifice bunt, but the pitcher threw the ball over the first baseman's head and the ball rolled all the all the way to the outfield wall. Scoring three runs as Delaney scored on a little league homerun. Later that inning, Sydney Carr would come thanks to a passed ball to help Cornerstone jump out to a quick 4-0 lead.
  • McKenna Glide quieted the Culver-Stockton offense in the bottom half of the first to get the hot offense back up to the plate. Delaney Wilson walked and the next batter, Sydney Carr drove her home with double to the wall to make it a 5-0 Cornerstone lead.
  • McKenna Glide had settled a nice rhythm limiting another CSU was trying to accomplish before letting a run in the bottom half of the third after an error kept the inning alive, CSU used a single into center to score their first run of the game,
  • After a one-out single and back-to-back walks by the Golden Eagles, Kaitlyn Cain came up to bat and delivered with a big two-run single into center field to Giver Cornerstone the 7-1 lead. Abbie Brower would later score thanks to a pass ball by the catcher to make it a 8-1 CU lead.
  • Nothing else came about for the Golden Eagles as McKenna Glide would quiet the bats of CSU to throw a complete game allowing just one unearned run to give Cornerstone their first victory of the year.
