MARION, Ind. – The Golden Eagles week in Marion, Indiana ended with one more All-American as senior
Josh DeVries was able to finish sixth with a jump of 4.80m. Cornerstone ends their trip to NAIA Outdoor Nationals with two All-Americans, both in the pole vault, as the men finish 69
th with 2.5 points and the women 54
th with two points. CU is now officially done with athletics for the summer and will begin offseason training for the fall of 2023.
Men's Results:
Pole Vault
Josh DeVries long wait came to an end early Friday afternoon as he competed in the pole vault finals. The opening height was set at 4.60m on a gusty day in Marion, Indiana. After a miss on his first attempt, DeVries was able to easily clear on his second attempt to stay in contention early.
As the bar moved up to 4.70m,
Josh DeVries looked to clear again, but a familiar scary situation would occur with his pole snapping. After a redo attempt that he did not clear, DeVries was able to gather his composure and clear the height on his second recorded effort. DeVries would then pass on 4.75m and next vault at 4.80m.
Once again
Josh DeVries would clear 4.80m on his second attempt and pass on 4.85m. After two valiant attempts at 4.90m, DeVries was pulled from the competition with a hamstring injury resulting in a sixth-place finish.
Despite the adversity,
Josh DeVries earned his first NAIA Outdoor All-American honor with the sixth-place finish to end his collegiate career.

The third race in three days for
Colten Covington and
Luke Pohl came to end Cornerstone track & field's time at NAIA Nationals. Both athletes were against a very tough field and were unable to sneak into the top eight. Pohl ran a time of 14:58.45 to finish 10
th and Covington ran a time of 15:12.36 to finish 15
th.
Women's Results:
Discus
Jenna Breuker competed in her second and final event of the NAIA Outdoor National Championships as the second athlete to throw in the very first heat of the discus. Her first throw would travel 39.99m. Her second throw would be her best of 40.48m with her last throw only traveling 39.58m. She finished seventh in her heat with the 40.48m throw and would not advance to the finals.
