GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The senior
Luke Pohl caps off a tremendous career at Cornerstone University with yet another honor, being named the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Great Lakes Regional Runner of the Year for Outdoor Track & Field. Pohl becomes one of the few athletes to earn a regional runner of the year award, with the last honoree being Anna Martin in 2021 season for Cross Country.
Pohl went into the NAIA Track & Field Championships seeded best in the country in the 10k with a program record time of 29:57.66 and was seeded ninth in the 5k with a time of 14:29.64. Pohl holds multiple school records and is a multi track & field and cross country All-American.
Each of the five regions – Great Lakes, Midwest, South, South Central and West – honored both genders' top track athletes and field athletes as well as the top men's and women's head coaches and assistant coaches.
Award winners were determined by a vote of USTFCCCA member coaches at the conclusion of the regular season. Only those individuals from USTFCCCA member programs are eligible for awards.
