Grand Rapids, Mich. – Women's Volleyball finishes out the 2025 season ranked #23 in the NAIA according to the NAIA Postseason Poll released earlier today (Dec. 17) after a well fought end to the season for Women's Volleyball. The Golden Eagles finished the season 27-9 overall, ranked 18th in total kills in the NAIA with 1674, and 19th in total block assists in the NAIA at 426 on the year!
Punched Ticket
The Golden Eagles finished the season 27-9 overall with a WHAC record of 16-4. The team advanced to the NAIA Opening Round after finishing second in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference, just behind #17 Aquinas College. They defeated #RV Walla Walla University in an exciting and tough five-set match inside of a packed Mol Arena, which punched their ticket to the National Championship Final site in Sioux City, Iowa.
National Championship Run
Women's Volleyball found themselves in a championship pool with the likes of, now three-in-a-row National Champion, #1 Indiana Wesleyan, who at the time were ranked #8 in the NAIA. The Wildcats were successful in that open game, sweeping the Golden Eagles in pool play. Cornerstone had some hope left going into their final matchup of the pool against #12 IU-Kokomo in which they won a set 34-32, but failed to make the comeback as IU-Kokomo took the game 3-1.
A Look Ahead
Though the season may not have ended in the team's favor, they will have plenty to look forward to in the 2026 season. Graduating just one senior in Emmalee Murphy, Cornerstone will look forward to holding on to most of their starting roster. Aubrey Johnson, now a two-time AVCA-NAIA All-American returns next year for her third season as a Golden Eagle. Gabby VerBerkmoes, awarded her first All-American Honorable Mention, named to the AVCA All-Region First Team and First Team All-Conference as well, returns next season to pick up where she left off. Gianna Warwick was named to the WHAC All-Freshman team and will look to return for her second year at Cornerstone. Not to mention the countless other players who have been a huge contributing factor to this team's success over the past year.
Congratulations to the Women's Volleyball team on their many team and individual accomplishments this 2025 season! We look forward to what the #23 team in the NAIA has in store for us in the year 2026.
