Last Week Recap
The Golden Eagles started last week going 1-1 against Olivet Nazarene where they controlled most of game one before suffering one crucial inning that made the difference. They bounced back quickly in game two with a shutout as strong pitching led the way. Cornerstone then took on Judson in another double-header where they secured a strong sweep after 4-0 and 8-2 victories.
Morgan Jenkins highlighted the Golden Eagles from behind the plate with 8 total hits and 4 stolen bases on the week.
McKenna Gilde led the way from the mound as she pitched 10.0 innings and struck out 7 batters while allowing zero earned runs. The ladies will take this 3-1 week as they look to start off conference play well on the road.
Scouting Defiance
Defiance comes into the matchup against the Golden Eagles with an overall record of 6-12 on the season. The Yellow Jackets have a team average of .240 batting as well as 14 stolen bases on the year. Defiance is coming off their spring break trip of games as they head into the WHAC opener against Cornerstone this weekend.
Scouting Rochester Christian
Rochester Christian comes into the matchup against the Golden Eagles with an overall record of 1-6. The Warriors are led by Madelyn Latham who is hitting at a .389 average on the season as she poses the largest threat to the Golden Eagles. Cornerstone has played a significantly higher number of games this season as this could be a disadvantage for the Warriors as they will need to find some rhythm to take down a cruising Golden Eagle squad.
