Kara Sandberg threw six innings and struck out six while
Morgan Jenkins led Cornerstone with two hits on the day. The Golden Eagles look ahead to the WHAC tournament that begins on Friday, April 24th.
Game One Recap: Cornerstone – 1 Lawrence Tech – 2
- The Golden Eagles struck first as Morgan Jenkins walked and after stealing second, scored on an error to give CU a 1-0 lead.
- Lawrence Tech got two runners on to begin the second, but Addi Herbig bounced back and retired the next three batters.
- The Blue Devils capitalized on an opportunity in the third as a single to right field brought two runs into score as LTU took a 2-1 lead.
- Cornerstone was held hitless from the second inning on until Anna Griffioen singled in the sixth but was left stranded.
- LTU set the Golden Eagles down in order in the top of the seventh as CU fell 2-1 in game one.
Game Two Recap: Cornerstone – 0 Lawrence Tech – 1
- Cornerstone got two runners on in the top of the first but were unable to bring any runs across.
- Morgan Jenkins singled in the top of the third but was left on base as LTU got out of the inning.
- The Blue Devils opened the scoring in the bottom of the third as a sac fly brought in run and gave LTU a 1-0 lead.
- In the top of the sixth Cornerstone got runners on second and third with one away as Morgan Jenkins and Sam Timmer singled. Rylee Stephenson reached on an error but with the bases loaded, CU grounded into a double play to end the inning.
- The Golden Eagles got a runner on in the seventh with a Maddi Veersma single, but she would be left stranded and Cornerstone would fall 1-0 to LTU.
