AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The second game of the day for the Cornerstone Baseball team saw their foes from Judson University post a 7-0 shutout to send the Golden Eagles to a 1-1 day. It marked the third time in the last five games CU has failed to score a run as they fall to 3-6 on the season. Cornerstone will have a pair of games on Tuesday as they play Evangel (Mo.) at 2:30 and will follow with another game against Judson.
Game Flow
After putting up 17 hits and 11 runs in the first game of the day against Warner, the Golden Eagles saw their bats quieted by the Eagles of Judson. CU had only six players reach base, five via hits from five different players.
The Eagles of Judson brought across one in the first, two in the second and then a 4-spot in the fifth for all of the scoring. That was plenty of support for their starter Danny Gerke who went all seven innings while striking out six and walking only one.
