GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles faced Judson University (Ill.) in a rematch of a game played in Florida back on March 3rd where Cornerstone won 3-0. Cornerstone scored a lot of runs early and late to go on defeat Judson 11-7 to improve to 12-3 on the season. The Golden Eagles weren't so lucky in the nightcap. Cornerstone faced Division II Hillsdale (Mich.) and were tied 3-3 after the top of the 5th inning but gave up six runs in the bottom of the 5th and two more in the bottom of the 6th to defeat Cornerstone 11-3. Cornerstone drops to 12-4 on the season.
Game Flow
Game 1 – Cornerstone faced Judson (Ill.) in their first game today at Davenport. Cornerstone started well today scoring two runs in the top of the 1st inning. Jenna Weightman drew a lead-off walk and advanced to third on a Megan Oberst double. Logan Myers followed with a grounder that was misplayed by the shortstop and both runners scored to give CU a 2-0 lead. Alexsandra Szajna led off with a double and Emily Bode reached on an error to start the 2nd inning. Jenna Weightman was hit by a pitch to load the bases and Megan Oberst and Jessica Wright both drew walks for RBI's to put Cornerstone ahead 4-0. Judson got one back in the bottom of the 2nd inning to make it 4-1. The Golden Eagles picked up three more runs on one hit in the top of the 3rd inning. Megan Oberst singled to center field and was credited with 2 RBI's. The Eagles responded in the bottom half of the inning with two runs to make it 7-3. They scored three more runs in the bottom of the 4th inning and another run in the 5th inning to tie the game at 7-7. The game remained tied going into the 7th inning. Cornerstone broke the tied with four runs in the top of the 7th inning. Emily Bode led off with a single to the pitcher. Ashley Niedermayer reached on a fielder's choice, Jenna Weightman was hit by a pitch, and Megan Oberst walked to load the bases. Ashley Niedermayer scored on an error and Logan Myers cleared the bases with a 3 RBI double to give Cornerstone an 11-7 lead. Whitney Denton picked up the win from the circle.
Game 2 – Hillsdale got on the board first scoring two runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning. The Golden Eagles responded with two of their own in the top of the 4th inning to tie the game at 2-2. Megan Oberst hit a solo homer to lead off the inning. Emily Bode hit an RBI single to tie the game at 2-2. Hillsdale reclaimed the lead with a run in the bottom of the 4th inning to make it 3-2. Cornerstone tied it up again in the top of the 5th on a Jessica Wright RBI double but Hillsdale broke the game open scoring six runs in the bottom of the 5th inning. Hillsdale scored two more in the bottom of the 6th and the game was ended after 6 innings with the score at 11-3.

What's Next
Cornerstone will have the week off and will play their home opener on Friday, March 27th. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
