CLERMONT, Fla. – The Golden Eagles opened play today with a game against Trinity International and scored early and often as they went on to defeat the Trojans 13-0 in five innings. Cornerstone only had six hits in the game but Trinity International had 13 walks and 6 errors in the game. Cornerstone got back to action later against Spring Arbor. Jessica Wright (FR/Jenison, Mich.), Logan Myers (FR/Alpena, Mich.), and Alexsandra Szajna (JR/Washington, Mich.) all had RBI in the win over the Cougars. Cornerstone finishes their Florida trip with a 9-3 record and will have 13 days off until their next games. They will play Cleary University and Roosevelt University (Ill.) on Friday, March 20th at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Davenport University.
Game Flow
Game 1 – Jenna Weightman (SR/Greensburg, Pa.) reached on an error, stole second, stole third and scored on an errant throw by the pitcher. Jessica Wright and Logan Myers both drew walks and Alex Szajna followed with a double to plate both of them. The next two players walked to load the bases and Abby MacArthur (SO/Lachene, Mich.) was hit by a pitch to bring home the 4th run of the inning. Harlie Sherman (JR/Centreville, Mich.) led off the next inning with a single then the Trojans helped the rest of the way. A couple of walks, a hit batter, and a fielder's choice led to a couple of runs to make it 6-0. Cornerstone made it 10-0 after 3 innings of play. Logan Myers and Alexsandra Szajna recorded 2 RBI's each for the Golden Eagles. Caitlyn Hartline (SO/Marcellus, Mich.) walked to open the 4th inning and scored on an Abby MacArthur double. Cornerstone scored two more unearned runs in the inning which gave them a 13-0 lead and the game was called after 5 innings. Brooke Leonard (FR/Zeeland, Mich.) picked up her 4th win of the season with a 1-hit shutout.
Game 2 – The Golden Eagles got a great start against Spring Arbor for the second time in a row scoring four runs in the 1st inning. Jenna Weightman led off with a double and was followed a Harlie Sherman walk. Megan Oberst (SR/Tecumseh, Mich.) reached on an error to load the bases. Jessica Wright grounded out and Weightman scored. Logan Myers hit a SAC Fly to score Sherman to make it 2-0. Megan Oberst then scored on an error on a Alexsandra Szajna grounder. Szajna later scored on an error to make it 4-0. The teams were scoreless after that until the 5th inning. Spring Arbor got one back in the top of the 5th on a couple of single's to make it 4-1. The Golden Eagles responded with a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Logan Myers hit a double to left-center and scored on an Alexsandra Szajna single to make it a 4-run game. The Cougars made it a game in the bottom of the 7th inning with consecutive singles and a double to make it 5-3 but Rachel Nelson (JR/Grandville, Mich.) got the next three batters out to secure the 5-3 win for the Golden Eagles. Rachel Nelson improved to 2-1 from the circle.

What's Next
The Golden Eagles will have the next 13 days off and return to action on Friday, March 20th when they take on Cleary and Roosevelt at the Davenport Tournament. They will play Cleary at 10:00 a.m. and Roosevelt at 4:00 p.m.
