GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles extended the program's longest winning streak to six games as they posted two wins on Saturday to complete the sweep of Marygrove College. CU won the opener 7-1 before finishing the day with a 6-2 triumph. Ben Sheckler (SO/Sparta, Mich.) and Luke Heller (SR/Whitewater, Wisc.) were each outstanding on the mound as they helped Cornerstone improve to 16-23 overall and 7-13 in the WHAC.
Game Flow
Game 1 – Pitching was the story of the day for the Golden Eagles and after giving up a run in the opening frame, sophomore Ben Sheckler shutdown the Mustangs. The offense followed suit with all seven runs in the first two innings.
CU got the first run of the game on a Tommy Enslen (SR/Middleville, Mich.) RBI single and Aaron Pearson (SR/Manchester, Tenn.) followed suit later in the inning. The Golden Eagles then brought across five runs in the second as Jonny Abbadusky (SO/Elverson, Pa.) had an RBI-triple and CU also got RBI knocks from Dalton Reust (SR/Grand Ledge, Mich.), Sonny Mastromatteo (SR/Ortonville, Mich.), Dillon Reust (SR/Grand Ledge, Mich.) and Evan Wagner (SO/Port Huron, Mich.).
Game 2 – The offense continued to be strong in the nightcap but again the starting pitching lifted the Golden Eagles to their second straight DH sweep in as many days over Marygrove. Luke Heller was dominant on the mound as the senior posted a complete game while allowing no earned runs and just six hits. The right-hander also matched his season high with eight strikeouts.
Cornerstone got runs in the second, fourth, fifth and sixth innings while seven different players picked up a hit with Evan Wagner and Sonny Mastromatteo each collecting a pair.

CU got a pair of triples in the opener from Jonny Abbadusky and Adam Harvey (they also came back to back)
What's Next
Cornerstone will host No. 2 ranked and the top team in the WHAC – Davenport – on Wednesday. The DH is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
