GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Cornerstone had to move their home games over to Davenport to play Lourdes today and the Gray Wolves got the best of the Golden Eagles winning 10-2 in (5 innings) in game one and 15-6 in the second game to drop CU out of the playoffs at this point. Cornerstone still plays double headers against Northwestern Ohio and Concordia so they are still are in the playoff picture.
Game Flow
Game 1 – The Gray Wolves came to town tied with Cornerstone with a 4-8 record and tied for 7th place. The Gray Wolves made the most of their hits in the first game. Lourdes scored three runs on two hits in the first inning while Cornerstone only scored one run on two hits in the bottom of the inning.
The Gray Wolves score 5 more runs on 4 hits in the top of the third inning powered by a thee-run homer by their catcher. Lourdes got another two-run homer in the 4th inning to take a 10-1 lead. Cornerstone scored an unearned run in the bottom half of the inning to make it 10-2. Neither team scored any runs in the 5th inning and the game ended with a 10-2 victory for the Gray Wolves.
Game 2 – Lourdes scored a run in each of the first two inning of Game 2 to take a 2-0 lead in the second game of the day. The Gray Wolves exploded for five runs in the top of the 4th inning to take a 7-0 lead. Cornerstone got one back in the bottom of the inning on an Emily Bode groundout which scored Ashley Niedermayer. Lourdes picked up one more in the 5th inning and two in the 6th inning to take a commanding 10-1 lead.
Cornerstone bought a little more time by scoring four runs to make it 10-5 in the bottom of the sixth inning when Jessica Wright launched a 3-run homer for the Golden Eagles. Lourdes bounced right back scoring five runs in the top of the 7th inning to put the game out of reach. Cornerstone scored one run in the bottom of the 7th inning on a Jenna Weightman solo shot but they fell short 15-6.

Ashley Niedermayer went 2-3 with two runs and an RBI for Cornerstone.
What's Next
Cornerstone has moved tomorrow's scheduled home games against Northwestern Ohio to Friday at 3:30 because of the cold forecast.
