ADRIAN, Mich. – After posting a 3-0 lead in their first at-bat, the Golden Eagles fell victim to a pair of 5-run innings by No. 5 Davenport to fall 11-3 in the first round of the WHAC Tournament. Cornerstone falls into the elimination bracket where they will play Aquinas College tonight at 7 p.m. The game most likely will be delayed and live video, stats and audio will be available.
Game Flow
Cornerstone, making their first appearance in the conference tournament since re-starting the program in 2013, got a fast start with three runs in the top of the first inning. After Tommy Enslen (SR/Middleville, Mich.) walked to bring home Sonny Mastromatteo (SR/Ortonville, Mich.), Dalton Reust (SR/Grand Ledge, Mich.) came up with a 2-out 2-RBI single scoring Aaron Pearson (SR/Manchester, Tenn.) and Zach Bohl (JR/Hudsonville, Mich.).
Unfortunately for the Golden Eagles, that would be the last runs of the game for the visitors as Davenport got one back in the third and then scored five in the fifth and eighth to complete the 11-3 win.
