LEESBURG, Fla. – Cornerstone faced Purdue Calumet and #10 St. Xavier today and they came away with a split in the two games.  Senior Alexsandra Szajna had the big blow in the win over Purdue Calumet with a 3-run homer to earn the Golden Eagles a win in the first game.  The Golden Eagles were in the game with #10 St.Xavier until the late innings where the Cougars pulled away.

Game Flow Game 1 - The Golden Eagles grabbed an early lead against Purdue Calumet. Elizabeth Albaugh hit a solo homer in the 2nd inning to give Cornerstone a 1-0 lead. Purdue Calumet tied the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning with a couple of hits. Cornerstone reclaimed the lead on an Alexsandra Szajna 3-run blast over the left field fence to put the Golden Eagles up 4-1. Purdue Calumet added one more run in the bottom of the sixth and that was the final run of the game as Cornerstone won 4-1.

Game Flow Game 2 – Cornerstone faced a much tougher opponent (#10 ranked St. Xavier) in the second game of the day. The Cougars jumped out to an early lead scoring 3 runs in the first three innings of play. Cornerstone pulled to within a run in the bottom of the third inning. Elizabeth Albaugh hit a 2 run single to make it 3-2 after three innings of play. The Cougars would add a single run in the fourth and score a pair of run in each of the last two innings to defeat the Golden Eagles 8-2.

What's Next?  Cornerstone will return to action tomorrow and will play Spring Arbor and Hannibal-LaGrange beginning at 1:00 pm.
