LEESBURG, Fla. – On their second to last day in the Sunshine State, the Cornerstone softball team posted another split as they fell to Spring Arbor 8-0 before rallying for a 4-3 win in extras against Hannibal-LaGrange. The split leaves the Golden Eagles at 4-6 on the year as they play Saint Thomas (Fla.) and Keiser (Fla.).
Game Flow
Game 1 – The Cougars picked up three runs on four hits in the bottom of the first inning to take a 3-0 lead against the Golden Eagles. Neither team would score again until the Cougars exploded for five runs on six singles in the bottom of the fourth inning. Harlie Sherman went 2 for 3 and accounted for half of the Golden Eagles four hits in the game.
Game 2 – The Golden Eagles found themselves in much the same position in the second game going down 3-0 in the top of the fourth inning but they responded with a run in the bottom half of the inning to make it 3-1. Abby MacArthur hit an RBI single to score Logan Myers for the run. Cornerstone mounted a rally in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the game at 3-3. Rachel Bode hit a SAC fly to score Caitlyn Hartline and Logan Myers scored on an Alexsandra Szajna ground out later in the inning to tie the game. The Golden Eagles score the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning on a Harlie Sherman RBI single.
