GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles fell 8-1 to Kalamazoo College before the weather caused the nightcap with the Hornets to be canceled. CU will enter WHAC play with an overall record of 6-9 as they look to host the top two conference opponents in Davenport on Friday and Madonna on Saturday.
Game 1- Cornerstone faced some early trouble as Kalamazoo College scored right away off an error that was followed by a two run shot from the bat of designated player Nori Selta that quickly brought the CU deficit to 3-0. The Golden Eagles responded in the bottom of the first with one run off a sacrifice fly by Rachel Bode that scored Logan Myers to cut the lead to 3-1.
Starter Whitney Denton settled in after the first inning before facing more trouble in the fifth that resulted in another run for KC making the score 4-1. Whitney Heasley and Rachel Younts came in as relief for Cornerstone but could not keep the game close as they each gave up two runs in the bottom of the fifth bringing the final to 8-1.

Cornerstone will open WHAC play with a double-header vs. No. 12 Davenport on Friday beginning at 3:30 p.m. followed by two more games on Saturday against conference leader Madonna.
