Baseball falls to Webber International 6-2

BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Golden Eagles fell 6-2 in a nine inning game at Webber International Tuesday night as they have hit the midway point of their 10 game stretch in Florida. Cornerstone (2-9) will be off tomorrow but will pick up play on Thursday with games against Saint Francis (Ill.) and Warner University (Fla.).

Game Flow – Cornerstone struggled from the mound to begin the game as Clay Keltner (FR/Highland, Ind.) gave up two first inning runs off of two walks and a single that gave Webber a 2-0 lead. Keltner did settle in after the first inning as he struck out a total of six batters in five innings on the mound. Offensively, the Golden Eagles could not get it going early either as the Warriors' starter Brady Mintell went perfect through the first four innings. Jacob Klemme (SR/Plymouth, Wis.) broke it up to get CU on the board after beating the tag at home on a strikeout wild pitch to cut the lead to 2-1.

Webber International took no time to get that run back though as an RBI double by Sjaghbar Martis brought the lead to 3-1 and Cornerstone then cut the lead back to one as Zach Bohl (SR/Hudsonville, Mich.) hit a single to center field that scored Aaron Krupansky (FR/Hartland, Mich.) to make it 3-2 but three more runs in the sixth and seventh inning brought the final score to 6-2.
