ADRIAN - Mich. – Reigning WHAC Pitcher of the Week Justin Geerts (SR/Surrey, B.C.) was outstanding again for the Golden Eagles as his complete-game 3-hitter helped CU post a doubleheader split against Siena Heights on Friday. Cornerstone is now 14-19 overall and 9-6 in league play as they play one more DH vs. the Saints on Saturday starting at Noon.

Game Flow

Game 1 – The Saints became the first team to get to CU starter Ben Sheckler (JR/Sparta, Mich.) as they posted four runs on the left-hander with three of those coming in the third inning after the home team trailed 2-0. CU got that lead thanks to a pair of runs from Jonny Abbadusky (JR/Elverson, Pa.).

Trailing 4-2 entering the seventh, CU got to within one as Abbadusky singled home Sean Masiakiewicz (SO/St. Louis, Mo.) but the Saints added a pair of insurance runs in the 8th in which CU only got one more back in the ninth, eventually falling 6-4.

Game 2 – Cornerstone again struck first in the nightcap as Joe Corsten (FR/Howell, Mich.) singled home Jacob Klemme (SR/Plymouth, Wis.) and the Golden Eagles added to their lead in the fourth when Adam Harvey (SO/Antioch, Ill.) picked up a sac fly that scored Brady Volmering (SO/Harbor Beach, Mich.).

After four innings of stellar pitching from Justin Geerts, the Saints finally got to the righty as they cut the lead in half on a walk and RBI double. That would be all of the scoring for SHU however as the Golden Eagles tacked on one more in the 6th and two more on an Aaron Krupansky (FR/Hartland, Mich.) 2-RBI double in the seventh.
