GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Cornerstone goes scoreless in a double-header against Siena Heights falling 8-0 in game one and 7-0 in game two. CU is now 8-15 on the year and 2-6 in the WHAC as they will host Cleary University for a double-header on Wednesday starting at 3:30 p.m.
Game Flow –
Game 1- The scoring started in the second inning with a homerun by Siena Heights Megan Jones that gave the Saints the early 1-0 lead. Brooke Leonard held the deficit to one run for a while before giving up two more in the fourth inning that brought the SHU lead to 3-0 resulting in an early exit for Leonard.
Whitney Denton and Whitney Heasley came in as relief for CU, but six errors cost the Golden Eagles in the end as SHU poured on five more runs with four in the fifth and one in the sixth bringing the score to 8-0. CU was held scoreless throughout and could not keep the game alive in the bottom of the sixth stranding a total of eight runners in game one.
Game 2- The scoring for Siena Heights continued early in game two scoring three in the first followed by a solo homerun by leadoff hitter Kenya Keller giving the Saints an early 4-0 lead. Rachel Nelson settled in after the first two innings exiting with five innings pitched, four hits allowed, and two earned runs. Kelsey Abbott pitched four SHU and CU again could not get the bats going recording only five hits off the bat of five different batters.

Offensive Numbers
- Cornerstone mustered up a total of 12 hits with seven in the first game and five in the second.
- Logan Myers was the only golden Eagle to record multiple hits going 2-3 in game one.
- Mackenzie Vallad went 2-4 on the day with a double.
What's Next?
CU will continue the homestand on Wednesday with a double-header vs. non-conference opponent Cleary University starting at 3:30 p.m.
