Game Flow

Game 1 – Davenport got on the board first after a leadoff double came around to score on a sacrifice fly by Brandon Cable to make the score 1-0. CU responded in the bottom of the first with a run of their own that came off an RBI single by Zach Bohl (SR/Hudsonville, Mich.) that scored Jonny Abbadusky (JR/Elverson, Pa.) tying the game at 1-1 but Brett Shure (FR/Orlando, Fla.) in his first collegiate start could not keep the Panthers off the board as they scored three more in the next three innings to take a 4-1 lead.

The Golden Eagles cut into the lead in the bottom of the fifth scoring two runs off a chop single by Jon Stewart (SO/Rockford, Mich.) and a Davenport error bringing the score to 4-3. The Panthers then put the game away with a big response in the sixth highlighted by a three run homerun off the bat of Travis Bolin resulting in a final of 10-3.

Game 2 – No. 19 Davenport again got off to a hot start again scoring six runs in the first four innings to take a 6-0 lead. Jake Ellis (SO/Grand Rapids, Mich.) came in as relief for Brandon Willard (SR/Sylvan Lake, Mich.) and settled the game down for a while, but the Panthers would get to him adding three more runs in the sixth to make the score 9-0.

Cornerstone would avoid getting shutout due to a ground out by Aaron Krupasnky that scored Travis Gordon (SR/Lowell, Mich.) along with a wild pitch by Davenport's Michael Meade that plated Jacob Klemme (SR/Plymouth, Wis.) bringing the score to 9-2. CU would then add one more run in the bottom of the seventh but left the bases loaded resulting in a 9-3 final.
