LIMA, Ohio. – Cornerstone rallied in Game 1 and cut the lead to 4-3 but had the potential tying run thrown out at the plate to end the game.  The Golden Eagles exploded for eight runs in the top of the third but the Racers responded with seven runs of their own in the bottom of the fifth to keep the game going and UHOH had the tying run on third but couldn't get her home as the Golden Eagles earned a split in their series with the Racers.

Game Flow

Game 1 - Cornerstone got on the board first when Elizabeth Albaugh connected on a solo home run but the lead was short-lived as UNOH scored three runs in the bottom of the second. Cornerstone cut into the margin in the 5th when Caitlin Hartline singled home Rachel Younts and then tied it up at 3-3 when Younts doubled home Abby MacArthur in the 6th. The Racers responded with a run to take the 4-3 lead and the game went to the seventh where a Mackenzie Vallad single to center almost brought home Harlie Sherman but the centerfielder made a strong throw to get the third out of the inning at the plate.

Game 2 - UNOH jumped out to the 1-0 lead in the first inning but then the offense exploded for CU in the third when they put up eight runs to take a commanding 8-1 lead. CU added to their lead in the fourth when they got a 2-run homer from Alexsandra Szajna to make the score 10-1 but then the Racers, down to their last three outs in threat of a mercy run defeat, brought across seven tallies to cut the margin to 10-8. Younts came in to pitch and stopped the bleeding to end the frame for CU.  UNOH added a run in the seventh to cut the lead to 10-9 and they had runners on first and third with two outs but they hit a soft grounder to the pitcher for the final out of the game.
