Softball hits road for pair of non-conference DH’s


GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - After returning from a 14-game trip to the Sunshine State over spring break and then having the first double-header cancelled due to weather, the Golden Eagles (3-11) will return to action to face Purdue University-Northwest on Tuesday before staying in the state to face Olivet College on Saturday.

Scouting PNW
The Pride (10-8) are batting a combined .327 over 18 games. Kyleigh Payne leads all hitters with a .444 batting average, 22 RBI, and five home runs.
 
Senior pitcher Caroline Brown leads the team with a 1.81 ERA and a .268 batting average against. Brown has started four games, throwing complete games in all of them.

Scouting Olivet College:
The Comets have an even 8-8 record and have won seven of their last eight games. Taylor Smith leads the team at the plate with 21 RBI, four home runs, and a .589 slugging percentage.
 
Olivet has a couple of key pitchers: Freshman Gracie Boyle and Senior Carrie Chamberlain. Boyle has a 3.53 ERA with three complete games out of six starts. Chamberlain has a 2.63 ERA with a pair of complete games out of six starts.
