Box Score 2 HOWELL, Mich. – The Golden Eagles took a break from conference play on Thursday to play against Cleary University and suffered a pair of defeats by the finals of 2-0 and 10-4. The losses set them back to 7-21 overall and they're scheduled to continue their season on Saturday afternoon when they welcome Madonna to CU's softball field.
Game Flow
Game 1 – Both teams struggled offensively, as each side only tallied three hits.
Rachel Younts had a double, while
Alicia Ontiveros and
Moriah Wilke each had base hits. Cleary scored a run in the third and added another in the fifth.
Brooke Leonard pitched her eighth complete game of the season while holding the opposition to only three hits.
Game 2 – Cleary led 5-0 after four innings. The Golden Eagles put up three runs in the top of the fifth, but the Cougars responded with three of their own in the bottom of the fifth.
Jessica Wright hit a home run in the top of the sixth inning for the Golden Eagles, but Cleary held on for a 10-4 victory.
Annie Fila went 2-for-4 and scored a run.
