Box Score 1 |
Box Score 2 LIVONIA, Mich. – Playing a home game once again on the road due to poor field conditions, the CU Softball team was unable to overcome a pair of fast starts as Madonna posted two wins in a WHAC doubleheader Saturday morning. The setbacks drop CU to 7-23 overall and 2-10 in league action as the Golden Eagles will play non-conference foe Rochester on Tuesday at the CU Softball field.
Game Flow
Game 1 – Madonna, playing as the visiting team during the game even on their own University Field, opened up the scoring with a 3-run home run in the first inning and it would be enough to carry them to a 4-1 win. CU did get a
Rachel Younts double that scored
Mackenzie Vallad in the 5th and a
Jessica Wright RBI groundout in the 6th but that would be all the offense they could muster with MU posting the 4-2 win.
Game 2 – The strong pitching for Madonna limited the Golden Eagles to just six hits, with four of those not coming until the final two at-bats when MU had already built an 8-0 lead. CU finally broke through on the scoreboard in the final inning when Moriah Wilke grounded out, bringing home Younts.
