Baseball to play 11 games on spring break Florida trip

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Cornerstone is set for their annual spring break trip to Florida where they will face four opponents and play 11 games in a week. The Golden Eagles will play three teams in the Russ Matt Central Florida Invitational before playing three conference games against Concordia in Winterhaven, Florida. Scouting Mount Vernon
Mount Vernon got off to a great start, winning all five of their games in the fall season. MVNU has outscored their opponents 44-12 in their first five games, with six total home runs. Freshman outfielder leads the team with a .500 batting average and eight hits in the first five games for the Cougars. 
 
Scouting Grace 
Grace College of Indiana has struggled in their first five games of the season going, 0-5 including a pair of losses to WHAC opponent Concordia University. The Lancers have scored just 14 runs in five games, while giving up 40. Freshman Houston Haney has been a two-way star for Grace hitting a team best .364 at the plate, along with a team best 4.70 ERA on the mound. 

Scouting Trinity Christian
Trinity Christian College got off to a great start in the fall going 4-0, but dropped a pair of games to Union College (Ky.) to begin the spring to hold a 4-2 overall record. The Trolls are a well-rounded team, holding a team ERA of 3.79 and a team batting average of .349. Offensively, Kyle Kolb is 13-18 at the plate for a .722 batting average, while Jake Tholl has already recorded 10 RBI in six games. 
 
Scouting Concordia
Conference foe Concordia has had an excellent start to 2017-18, posting a 10-2, 4-2 WHAC record. The Cardinals pitching has stood out this season, as four guys to pitch at least seven innings have an ERA under three this season. Senior Marshall Oetting has pitched 22 innings this year posting a 3-0 record with 27 strikeouts and has yet to give up an earned run for the Cardinals. Offensively Oetting has been dominant as well, with 11 hits and a .423 batting average. Another standout at the plate is Marshall's brother Micah who leads the team with 14 RBI this season.
