Scouting the Wolverines
Manager Matt Cunningham and the University of Michigan-Dearborn Wolverines are winding down their first season in program history, posting a 5-26, 3-20 WHAC record. UM-Dearborn are very young with 14 freshmen on the varsity roster. The junior Daniel Kerr has been one of the best hitters in the Wolverines first season, leading the team with 33 hits and 23 RBI. Pitching has been a struggle for UM-Dearborn in their first season posting a WHAC second worst 10.19 team ERA. UM-Dearborn started the season 0-13 before earning their first program victory vs. Gannon University. Another highlight for the Wolverines this season included a 6-5 win vs. No. 22 Madonna University.

About Coach Cunningham
First year head coach Matt Cunningham finished a standout playing career in 2008 when he graduated from Wayne State University. Before being hired as the first coach at UM-Dearborn, Cunningham served as an individual catching instructor at Bullpen Baseball Academy along with instructing camps at Wayne State University.

Win Total
The Golden Eagles are looking to surpass last season's win total with a sweep of UM-Dearborn for CU's second best record in program history. In 2016-17 Cornerstone recorded 24 wins in Coach Chuck Lowitzki's first season. In 2015 Cornerstone recorded a program best 26 wins while going 26-31 overall under head coach Dave Mitroff.

Playoff Implications
The Golden Eagles are playing for their playoff lives this weekend against UM-Dearborn. With a sweep of the Wolverines, Cornerstone will clinch a spot in the WHAC Tournament that starts in the beginning of May. CU still has a chance to make the conference tournament if they don't sweep UM-Dearborn but would need help from other conference opponents with Lourdes just being one game back for the sixth spot.

Burton HR Hitting
Sophomore Jarod Burton has heated up at the plate this past week, recording eight RBI and a home run. Burton now leads the team with 28 RBI and continues to be the team leader in home runs with four now. Burton HR at Davenport ties his total from last season and gives him a career total of eight for the Golden Eagles.

Harvey at the plate
After going just 1-19 at the plate to start the season, senior Adam Harvey has started to find some success at the plate. Harvey has tallied six hits in his past six games including a 3-4 mark at the plate against Davenport. Harvey is batting .231 on the year for his second-best average in his four seasons at Cornerstone.

Strikeout Numbers
Senior Noah Reed has struck out 80 batters this season, 28 more than he did in his first season as a member of the Golden Eagles. Reed already holds the single season record for K's, surpassing the 77 recorded by Ben Sheckler in the 2016 season. Sheckler is now playing professionally with the Fort Wayne Tin Caps within the San Diego Padres organizations.
